from The Meteoritical Bulletin, No. 110 Northwest Africa 13715 (NWA 13715)northwestern Africa Classification: Lunar meteorite (feldspathic breccia) Physical characteristics: Sixteen black stones with mass ranging from 0.77g to 40.81g Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Subrounded mineral clasts to 600 µm and rare lithic clasts (with granulitic texture) set in a feldspathic mesostasis (evolving to a melt rock matrix in some areas) with vesicles to 10 µm. Main components are pyroxene and olivine, and feldspathic glass. Other minerals: metal, troilite. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa31.0 and Fa 40.3, FeO/MnO = 105.5 n(=2). Pyroxene Fs19.9Wo4.0, Fs15.6Wo25.0, Fs13.1Wo37.4, FeO/MnO = 64.2 (n=3). Chromite Cr# = 0.67 (n=1). Feldspathic fraction An95.4±0.3Ab4.2±0.4Or0.4±0.2 (n=3). Classification: Achondrite (lunar feldspathic breccia) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. |
