Position Summary: The docent assistant is responsible for carrying out supportive tasks and services to enhance the tour experience for guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Open/prepare the house for guests: Arrive 30 minutes prior to tour time, open the front gate, unlock the house and tool house, deactivate the security system, check the interior of the house and tool house making certain each is ready for guests. Adjust thermostat/temp setting on heating/cooling systems as needed.

Schedule: Currently we have a modified tour schedule. For summer/fall 2021 we are looking for a DA for Saturday tours (10 AM and 2 PM) and Sunday tours (2 PM)
At the FLWHEP we have a 2-person docent team for tours. A docent who gives the tour, and a docent assistant who assists with various tasks so the docent can stay focused on giving the tour. Tours last about an hour, so the DA is at the house for 1.5 h-2 hours. The ideal candidate is someone who is a “people person”, has good communication skills, is reliable, is comfortable talking with guests, etc. We need DA’s for tours on Saturday and/or Sunday. This position pays $10/hr.
