Montray Smith, MPH, MSN, RN, NDHP-BC

Montray Smith is a third-year doctoral student and an Assistant Professor at the University of Louisville (UofL) School of Nursing. Her research area is in disaster management with vulnerable populations specifically on families with special healthcare needs children, refugees, and low socioeconomic groups. She is currently pursuing a post master’s certificate in psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) from the University of Cincinnati. She is board-certified as a National Healthcare Disaster Professional (NHDP-BC). Montray received her MSN from the University of Central Florida, an MPH with graduate certificates in Disaster Management, Humanitarian Assistance, and Epidemiology in Infectious Diseases from the University of South Florida, FNP & PNP post masters’ certificates from Northern Kentucky University, and BSN from the University of North Florida. She is a graduate of the Harvard/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Disaster Medicine Fellowship and a former UofL Health and Social Justice Scholar. She is a graduate from the Cincinnati Children’s/University of Cincinnati Leadership Education in Neurodevelopment and related Disabilities (LEND) Fellowship program. She is a prior member of a Disaster Medical Assistance Team with the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS).
