Angel Boulware

Angel Boulware is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Comparative Human Development department concentrating in Health, Vulnerability, and Culture at the University of Chicago. Angel is interdisciplinary, mixed-methods researcher with specific interests in the disciplines of sociology, public health, and psychology. Primarily she studies health disparities specifically related to women’s health and marginalized groups. Currently, she is examining how community violence exposure impacts the psychosocial development of adolescents. This qualitative research aims to bring awareness to the impact of gun violence on indirect victims and highlight mental health services insufficiencies in communities with high levels of crime. In addition to her independent projects, Angel serves as a study coordinator at a trauma clinic in the Department of Psychiatry and a graduate researcher in the Department of Family Medicine.
