Detailed description:
Dr. Shengqian Zhou’s research focuses on the origins, atmospheric processes, and climatic effects of marine aerosols. He is interested in the connections among oceanic ecosystems, atmospheric aerosols, and clouds, especially how biogenic organics produced by marine biota contribute to the formation and growth of aerosols and thus affect cloud condensation nuclei. He is also interested in the application of machine learning to environmental sciences, with a particular concern on developing explainable machine learning models to disentangle the drivers of aerosol population and properties in the marine boundary layer.
