2025.3.24. Welcome, Echo!

Echo Zhang joins the lab for her rotation study. She will use chronic two-photon Calcium imaging to study the long-term stability of olfactory coding in the Drosophila Mushroom Body.

2025.1.16. Welcome, Zoey!

Zhuchen Fu (Zoey) joins the lab as an undergraduate researcher. She will use voltage imaging to study spike propagation and computation within fly neurons.

2024.12.2. Huang lab receives the Whitehall grant!

Our lab has been awarded the Whitehall Foundation grant for studying predictive learning in Drosophila with novel voltage and dopamine imaging. We are grateful for the generous support from the Whitehall Foundation (http://whitehall.org)!

2024.11.17. Sal presents at 2024 Midwest Drosophila Conference

Sal gives an oral presentation on his work ‘A Low-Cost, Versatile Behavioral System for Sensorimotor and Memory Studies in Head‑Fixed Drosophila.’ Great job!

2024.8.31. Lab summer boating

To celebrate the lab 1st anniversary, but sadly say farewell to Mengyu…

2024.7.19. New paper is out!

Dr. Huang’s postdoc work on how dopamine regulates the interaction between short-term and long-term memory is out on Nature. Congratulations to all authors for the wonderful collaboration!

2024.7.15. Welcome, Mengyu!

Mengyu Fan joins the lab for a summer research program. She is currently an undergraduate student at Peking University in China and will use voltage imaging to study learning-induced plasticity in Mushroom Body output neurons.

2024.1.22. Welcome, Jordyn!

Jordyn Czarny joins the lab for her rotation project. She will learn the techniques of fly brain dissection and in vivo voltage imaging.

2023.11.1. Welcome, Sohui!

Sohui Park joins the lab for her rotation project. Sohui is the first rotation student in the Huang lab, and she will use voltage imaging to characterize the firing properties of Mushroom Body output neurons in alive flies.

2023.10.25. First voltage imaging trace

The very first in vivo voltage imaging in Huang lab. Look at how this neuron changes firing mode. This simplistic voltage scope only costs ~$50k. For more information, check the list in our lab resource.

2023.9.13. Welcome, Ruibao!

Dr. Ruibao Zhu joins the lab as the first postdoctoral researcher. Ruibao obtained her Ph.D. from Tsinghua University and has a strong research background in Drosophila genetics. She will study the dopamine-mediated learning process using two-photon calcium imaging and voltage imaging in behaving flies.

2023.9.5. Welcome, Sal!

Salah Khorbtli (Sal) joins the lab as the first lab member. Sal will bring his expertise in both neuroscience and engineering to the everyday research in the Huang lab!

2023.9.4. First lab visitor

Brenda visited the lab today and left her remarks.

2023.9.1. Lab opens!

The Huang lab is officially open today! We just move in the brand new Neuroscience Research Building. Our adventure starts!
