Dr. Aaron DiAntonio received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Harvard College and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge. He then earned his MD and PhD degrees from Stanford University where he studied with Dr. Thomas Schwarz investigating the mechanism of neurotransmitter release. Aaron moved to the University of California, Berkeley to the laboratory of Dr. Corey Goodman for his postdoctoral studies investigating homeostatic synaptic plasticity. In 1999, Aaron took a faculty position in the Department of Developmental Biology at the Washington University School of Medicine and in 2014 was appointed the Alan A. and Edith L. Wolff Professor of Developmental Biology. His laboratory combines genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, and physiology in both Drosophila and mouse to investigate molecular mechanisms that control the formation, maintenance, and repair of neural circuits in development and disease. His laboratory is now translating these fundamental mechanistic insights into novel therapies for the treatment of neurological disease.
