On December 16, 2024, the International Center for the Study, Prevention and Treatment of Multi-Generational Legacies of Trauma held a webinar to celebrate the adoption of Resolution 79/122 by the UN General Assembly. As discussed in our recent post, the Resolution launches the treaty-making process for a new Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Humanity.
Professor Leila Nadya Sadat, Director of the Crimes Against Humanity Initiative and James Carr Professor of International Criminal Law at WashU Law, joined a panel of experts from UN delegations, NGOs, and academia to discuss the historic process and way forward.
The distinguished panel also included Brazil’s Legal Adviser to the UN, Dr. Victor Silveira Braoios; the Executive Director of Global Justice Center, Elise Keppler; the Legal Director of Avaaz, Bieta Andemariam; and member of the International Law Commission, Professor Charles Jalloh. The panel was co-moderated by Professor David Donat Cattin and the founder and Director of the Internation Center for Multigenerational Legacies of Trauma, Dr. Yael Danieli.
