Learn about, from, and with CIPE!

The Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (CIPE) is seeking passionate clinical facilitators to educate the learners in our collaborating educational programs of audiology, genetic counseling, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy and physical therapy.

Those who facilitate with us gain educator experience as well as interprofessional collaborative skills. Below are ways to become involved with CIPE. Learners/trainees, please check your program specific guidelines for participation at the bottom of this page.

Learn with CIPE* 

Where to start: Foundational Workshops  

• IPE 101 – CIPE’s foundational workshop covers IPE competencies and emerging CIPE longitudinal curriculum through simulation, role-play, and videos. You will also gain knowledge about implicit bias, profession stereotypes, and team culture, while practicing facilitation and debriefing skills. (Full day, offered in December and June) 
• IPE 201 – Following IPE 101, attend IPE 201 to role-play interprofessional team facilitation scenarios with other educators. This workshop is part of the training to become a Phase I facilitator, and is sometimes held separately for those who do not facilitate in Phase I. (90 minutes, taught separately annually and also as part of CIPE Phase I facilitator training) 

Monthly Professional Development Workshop Series

Free and virtual, invite your colleagues! Topics covered are relevant to interprofessional education and collaborative practice. (1-2 hours) 

Teach with CIPE

• Phase I – Facilitate a team of 10 first-year health profession learners over three sessions in CIPE’s introductory, virtual, experience each fall. Register HERE. 
• Phase II – contact CIPE Director Heather Hageman to register.  
  • Standardized Patient Team Experience – facilitate or serve as an observer for an afternoon of three rotations of senior-level interprofessional student team meetings. (occurs 6x/year)
  • Case-based ethics discussions – paired profession facilitation, many are currently under development  
• Phase III – contact CIPE Director Heather Hageman to register.  
  • Serve as a Hotspotting coach – coach a team of students over an 8-month period to engage with a client/patient who needs extra support with social determinants of health and self-advocacy skills. (October – April) 
  • Help develop training for clinical teams where CIPE students rotate – The CIPE Professional Development Team is developing training materials for clinical teams to facilitate interprofessional collaboration among learners rotating on their clinical services.
