The Brown School at Washington University Honors Black History Month 2023
From the nation’s first Black-led Civil Rights protest in 1819, to the Dred and Harriet Scott decision in 1857, to Ferguson in 2014, St. Louis has led the nation in resistance against oppression. The resistance continues as the next generation takes the reins of history.
“…Two centuries ago, St. Louis provided proof for the American ideal that even those with least means can achieve justice through the courts.”
David C. Mason, St. Louis Circuit Judge, and Leader of the Freedom Suits Memorial Project
