The African-American/Black Faculty & Staff Cabinet began in February 2018. The organization’s s beginning is rooted in the collective desire of the original planning committee, comprised of Chiamaka Asinugo, Phyllis Jackson, Kaslina Love Mosely, Gena Gunn McClendon, PhD, Kimberly Morton, PhD, and Deborah Spraggins, to bring folks together. The vision of this committee gained support of the Chancellor’s Office, The Academy for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Human Resources. The first meeting was held in Ibby’s in the Danforth University Center. Since this time, the committee of six has now grown into a robust membership of hundreds of African-American/black faculty and staff members connecting and growing together across WashU’s campuses.
