The lab is interested in understanding molecular mechanisms and physiological functions of ion channels and transporters that play important roles in human health and disease. Work in the lab is focused on developing strategies for overexpression, purification, characterization, crystallization, and structure determination of selected targets. We use multidisciplinary approaches including X-ray crystallography, single-particle cryo-electron microscopy, biochemical reconstitution, and electrophysiology. The lab is well equipped with state-of-the-art setup for membrane protein biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology. In addition, we have excellent access to synchrotron X-ray facilities including the Advanced Photon Source and cutting-edge cryo-electron microscopes at the Washington University Center for Cellular Imaging (WUCCI). The lab has multiple positions for graduate students and postdoctoral scientists.

Graduate Student Positions

Highly motivated graduate students interested in the frontier of membrane biochemistry or structural biology are welcome to rotate in the lab.

Postdoctoral Associate Positions

Highly motivated candidates interested in joining the lab as a postdoctoral scientist are welcome to apply. Successful candidates are expected to be well trained in membrane protein biochemistry, or in structural biology using X-ray crystallography or cryo-electron microscopy. Please send your application including cover letter, research interest, CV, and contact information for three references to yuanp AT wustl DOT edu.
