WashU Veterans,

The SVA and LinkedIn have partnered to bring in-depth training to student veterans with the goal of teaching us how to use LinkedIn effectively to get the career we desire. WUVets was selected as one of only six chapters of the 1500+ nationwide for this exciting and engaging opportunity. Ideally, you would attend all four webinars listed below.

Daniel Savage, Head of Veterans Programs at LinkedIn, will be lead trainer. Prior to this role, Daniel was an Army infantry officer and, more recently, a director at the Syracuse University Institute for Veterans and Military Families. He received his MS in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

This is an incredible opportunity to get insider information from LinkedIn. Daniel not only does outreach like this webinar series but also works with fortune 1000 companies to target veterans for employment through LinkedIn. I had an overview webinar with Daniel last week as we were setting this up. It was truly eye-opening how companies use LinkedIn to find prospective employees and part of Daniel’s webinars will be showing us how we can optimize our presence and network via LinkedIn to make sure we show up on the radar of the hiring managers. This will not be like any LinkedIn training you have ever had before.

Webinar 1: Optimizing Your LinkedIn Presence

Description: Teach veterans how to make the most of their online presence. We will go into the sections of the profile that are critical to focus on, discuss content and translation of skill set, and illustrate how recruiters find members.

Webinar 2: Recruiting and Leveraging Your Network

Description: Discuss networking as a concept and why you should do it. How to build the network you need to determine the next steps for your future and connect to opportunity.

Webinar 3Finding The Way In: Your Internship and/or Job Search

WedNov 15, 1:30-3:00pm

Description: Understand the companies you want to work for and their culture, and learn the process for using LinkedIn tools in conjunction with your network to build relationships at companies at which you seek to apply.

Webinar 4Knowledge Management to Get and Stay Ahead

WedDec 6, 7:00-8:30pm

Description: Understand the process of seeking and leveraging information that will help you develop and maintain skills, succeed in interviews, and stay at the top of your field using LinkedIn tools.

All webinars will be held in the Liberman Graduate Center Conference Room (DUC Suite 300). Please bring your computer as these webinars will be very interactive.
