After the info session, we took a shuttle to Cortex to attend Venture Cafe for an off-campus networking event. 

In brief:

Get practical experience in the business & marketing side of science. Sound out your idea to a panel of experts to get valuable feedback. Teams consist of 1-5 students and postdocs.
• No experience necessary!
• All stages of ideas welcome!

IdeaBounce is a quick 2-5 minute pitch, no business plan needed.

B2BC consists of a business plan & slide deck in addition to the pitch, and gives away $2000 in CASH PRIZES!

 

Cortex Site Visit

BEC toured the Cortex Site and BioGenerator Space.

We visited ProArc Diagnostic (with CEO Michelle Faits, PhD), Matatu (With CEO Nate McNulty, PhD), and Stereotaxis (with Ilker Tunay, PhD). 

After the tour, we joined the Venture Cafe for networking with the broader St. Louis community.

IdeaBounce

IdeaBounce® is a type of event that allows attendees to pitch venture ideas, get feedback, and find connections.

Pitches are a quick 2 or 5 minutes, with no restriction on type of idea. Pitches are judged on simplicity, directness, clarity of ask (financial or advice).

No experience necessary, great place to practice how to pitch something or hone your elevator pitch. This is also a great opportunity to practice for our Bench to Business Challenge, pitch competitions, or your company’s fundraising.
