In hopes of improving the current drug delivery technology, a new method using whispering gallery mode resonators that are able to store large amounts of energy was studied. A process was created to successfully coat a resonator in a biocompatible pH-sensitive hydrogel solution and have the resonator still retain the same amount of energy as in air.
Building a whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonator with a high initial quality (Q) factor
Create a pH sensitive hydrogel out of poly acrylic acid
Successfully placing the hydrogel onto the resonator and retaining the high Q factor of the resonator in air
