When do I request housing? Housing will be done through the housing portal once you are given a WUSTL Key, this generally happens in April/May. There is NO benefit to submitting early. As long as you submit by the deadline you’re good.

Should I go “random” or pick a roommate? Nobody can answer this question for you. What I will say is that just because someone sounds nice on Instagram and you messaged them for a number of weeks does not mean that you should live with them. Do you smoke? Do you drink? Do you want to be best friends? Do you wake up early? Do you take super long showers at really inconvenient times? By the same token if you get a random roommate they might be totally incompatible, but most students are reasonable enough. Feel it out and trust your gut.

I heard I can request a building? specific room? Floor? Floormates? This is a common rumor, it is possible to type in the “extra information” box your request for a building, reslife DOES see this but they probably won’t honor the request (contrary to the students who claim that it works). Do not bother with asking for a specific room or floor, it makes you sound entitled.

If you need a specific room or place for a reason (you are unable to walk up the stairs for example) this is brought to disability resources and they will assign you to a room that meets your needs.

How does the housing selection work? You rank the types of housing (above) in order of preference. Note that if you say A, C, B, D is your preference but A is not available you are not then looked at for C. Instead they will continue to assign housing and try to fulfill first choices for everyone first before going back for second choices. This means that by the time you are looked at again for a second choice C might also be full and you get put in your 3rd or 4th choice when had you just put C in the first place you would have gotten it. This most often happens when people request modern singles as first choice

Students may only request roommates with whom they intend to share a bedroom; no suitemates or floormates requests. Roommate requests must be mutual. List their full name (no nicknames) and their email address that they used through their WUSTL Pathway.

  • no lights provided. I bought a desk lamp and could have used a bed lamp. A lot of people also put LED light strips up but that’s more of a decoration
  • A shower curtain is provided for the bathroom and the suite is carpeted. There are kitchens on each floor and a laundry facility in each building. There are study spaces available, a main computer lab and a multipurpose room. Students will be responsible for providing their personal items and toiletries.
  • most dorms have a pantry, dresser, desk, and closet. photo’s measurements are from a modern dorm.
