None of our research would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers. We sincerely thank each and every volunteer that has contributed to our past, current and future studies.

If you are considering volunteering for one of our studies, each current open study along with study information and consent forms are provided below.

Brain Resilience to Aging and Neurodegeneration (The BRAND Project)

The BRAND Project is a longitudinal, brain PET and MRI project comprising two different NIH-funded studies. In this project, we are investigating whether specific aspects of brain metabolism provide resilience to undesirable aspects of brain aging such as cognitive decline, accelerated brain atrophy, and Alzheimer disease.

This project includes brain PET and MRI imaging sessions, cognitive testing, basic laboratory and medical testing, and questionnaires, and we ask all volunteers to return 2-3 years later to repeat the testing to see how the brain is changing over time.

In order to be eligible for this study, you must be at least 35 years of age, have no contraindication to PET or MRI imaging, and be free of any known major brain diseases (other than possibly Alzheimer disease for cognitively impaired volunteers). The project has two linked studies and you can participate in either one or both studies, depending on your age.

Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering or for further information about these studies.
