The results generated by our algorithms on simulated data were very promising. Figure 5 contains four different plots which verify the theory of time delays as well as the efficacy of our algorithms. The top three plots simulate the time delay between adjacent elements of the microphone array. The bottom plot compares the output signal processed by our algorithm to a signal processed by no algorithm.
Clearly, destructive interference almost entirely eliminated the signal of interest without the presence of our algorithm. When our algorithm is instead used to process the simulated data, the output signal is very close to the original signal of interest. This change can be attributed to the signal of interest experiencing constructive interference while the noise signal experiences destructive interference.
