The following list documents the literature we researched and used in our design project. The first source provides a general overview of microphone array signal processing and beamforming techniques. The second source provides a detailed derivation of the adaptive beamforming technique known as Generalized Sidelobe Cancellation.
- McCowan, Iain. “Microphone Arrays from a MIMO Perspective.” Springer Topics in Signal Processing Microphone Array Signal Processing(2001): 139-63.
- Jablon, “Steady State Analysis of the Generalized Sidelobe Canceller by Adaptive Noise Cancelling Techniques,” IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, Vol. 34, No. 3, pp. 330-337, Mar 1986.
In addition to these two academic sources, we also examined two previous design projects involving microphone array beamforming that have been completed in the ESE Department of Washington University in St. Louis.
Firstly, we examined the project completed by Xiangyang Mou in the Summer of 2015. His website can be found at: Cocktail Party Hearing Aid by Microphone Array.
FInally, we examined the project completed by Luting Yang in the Spring of 2015. His website can be found at: Cocktail Party Hearing Aid using a Microphone Array.
