Welcome to the Trans-Atlantic Forum!

The Trans-Atlantic Forum was formed in 2011 to develop activities that promote collaboration between Washington University scholars and their counterparts in Europe working in the humanities and social sciences.

Working with Paris’s Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities (EHESS) and the University of Amsterdam, we jointly train a cohort of graduate students, selected from the three universities, under the rubric Social Studies of Institutions. Our respective core research teams are engaged in a multi-year joint project on conceptual and methodological dimensions of studying institutions. This also involves a yearly conference.

More exchanges between Washington University departments and European academic counterparts are under development.
