Dr. McPherson’s lab elucidates fundamental neural mechanisms that contribute to neuropathic pain and movement impairments following injury to the central nervous system (primarily stroke and spinal cord injury). Students working in the McPherson lab will learn techniques for stimulation of and recording from the central and peripheral nervous systems, advanced signal processing of biophysical data, closed-loop neural computer interfaces, and neuropharmacology in rodent models and humans.
