Visualizing  Karyotypes

Project Lead: AJ Jones

Where do the science and art of karyotyping meet? How do clinicians translate these knowledges to their patients? How does the changing landscape of genetics intersect with spectrums of sex and gender identity? In collaboration with lab technicians, genetic counselors, and individuals with 45,X cell lines and related conditions, this project explores how genetic information emerges in the imaginary. The resulting collection of visualizations will comprise a virtual exhibition to spread awareness of genetic diversity and celebrate the creative practices inherent to their interpretation.
