Tetrahymena can be transformed by homologous recombination at specifically targeted sites or with autonomously replicating vectors. Some commonly used plasmids that can serve as a starting point for some types of construct creation are available through the Stock Center. Clients are responsible for the design and construction of their transformation vector. Vector design is critical for successful transformation.
