McGill receives national Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes Award

Janet B. McGill, MD, MA, FACP

On March 14, the American Diabetes Association announced the recipients of the 2022 National Scientific and Health Care Achievement Awards. Janet B. McGill, MD, MA, FACP was named as the recipient of the 2022 Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes Award.

The award recognizes Dr. McGill’s meritorious contributions to diabetes clinical practice for over 30 years. As an active clinical researcher in diabetes, she continues to test new therapies and novel approaches.

Currently, Dr. McGill is the principal investigator or sub-investigator on more than 10 clinical trials investigating new treatments for diabetes and its complications. She completed her fellowship in Endocrinology at Washington University in St. Louis and joined as faculty in 1987. Prior to this, she completed her internship, residency, and was chief resident at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Treating persons with diabetes for more than 30 years has been an honor and a privilege. The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients through clinical work and clinical research has been rewarding beyond any awards or accolades. I am surprised and humbled to receive the award for Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes from the American Diabetes Association.
