IT at Washington University in St. Louis uses the Center for Internet Security, Inc. (CIS) for benchmarking and hardening. CIS Benchmarks are the global standard and recognized best practices for securing IT systems and data against the most pervasive attacks. Their proven guidelines are continuously refined and verified by a volunteer, global community of experienced IT professionals.

Through CIS Benchmarks, the Office of Information Security is able to identify the best practices to configure and secure systems in the WashU environment.

If you are a member of WashU IT, you can contact our office for an account to access to the benchmarks.
