Project Need Statement
A quickly applicable, size-adjustable pre-formed arm splint that fits pediatric patients of ages 18 months to 13 years old that supports the elbow at 90 degrees to maximize healing and the efficiency of the application.
Project Scope
The objective is to design an arm splint used for elbow fractures that can properly fit pediatric patients from 18 months to 13 years that eliminates the need for size adjustments, thereby reducing application time. The aim is to finalize the product and deliver a functional prototype to the client by the end of April 2023. A preliminary prototype has been developed in February 2023, which will be followed by verification and validation tests in March to make any modifications required to enhance the functionality of the device, including its ability to securely hold the area of fracture firmly and provide patient comfort.
