Background

Electrotaxis is a biological phenomenon in which certain cell types migrate in response to an external electric field. It is a key player in many clinically relevant processes in the body, such as wound healing, cancer metastasis, and embryogenesis. The mechanisms of electrotaxis are not yet fully understood, and further research may allow us to take advantage of this phenomenon for medical applications.

Need Statement

There is a need for a laboratory device that can apply an adjustable electric field to cell culture for researchers who are investigating electrotaxis, a biological phenomenon that has potential to aid developments in assisted wound healing and treatment of certain cancers.
