Partnering with leaders and researchers to develop business intelligence solutions that guide priority-setting and problem-solving

Understanding the impact of cancer across the care continuum from screening to diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up is complex, and the associated data may be siloed across the health system. Accessing information to describe our cancer population accurately and efficiently is challenging for researchers and clinicians due to these factors. To address these challenges, it is necessary to collaborate across clinical data systems, state registries, and population-level data.

The Siteman Cancer Data and Statistics Hub is a collaborative working group led by Siteman’s Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities. It includes members from Washington University and BJC HealthCare with expertise in cancer registries, clinical operations, cancer epidemiology, statistics, clinical oncology, clinical trials, and informatics. To enable researchers and clinicians to discover and characterize oncology populations, The “Siteman Cancer Data Lab” seeks to:

  • Consolidate and leverage existing data sources and visualizations sourced from the public domain, the clinical patient data, the cancer registry, and the clinical trial enterprise
  • Develop new data sources and data visualizations based on clinical, research, and operational use cases with an emphasis on sourcing from the electronic health record and linking data across domains
  • Expand the “Siteman Cancer Data and Statistics Hub” with collaborators across community, academic and clinical partners.
