Melody is a Ph.D. Student at the Brown School, Washington University in St Louis. She holds a BA in Social Work with a minor in Sociology from the University of Ghana. She obtained her MSW from the Brown School as well.  She has worked with humanitarian and social service organizations in West Africa, Europe, and the United States. During her time in Ghana, Melody focused on enhancing the mental health and well-being of young people, while also addressing their reproductive health needs. This experience led her to recognize the significance of enhancing mental health research and intervention for the youth. Her research interests encompass adolescent/youth mental health, substance use, and gender-related issues. Based on her research interests, she aims at designing, developing and implementing culturally and evidence-based interventions that address adolescent/youth mental health and substance use problems to improve mental health outcomes.
