Frederick Amissah, MSSW

Frederick Godwill Amissah is a first-year PhD student at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis and a research assistant at the International Center for Child Health and Development (ICHAD). He holds a BA in Social Work (with a Sociology minor) from the University of Ghana and an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in Social Work with Families and Children, completed across four universities in Norway, Portugal, Uganda, and Sweden. Frederick has over four years of practice experience working with street-connected children and those in alternative care in Ghana, as well as reintegrated asylee youth in Sweden. His research research interests cut across child caregiving (young caregivers), child labour and vulnerability; de-institutionalization, care leaving and reintegration; family strengthening interventions and asset building; adolescent and youth mental health; and experiences of children caring for HIV/AIDS-afflicted persons in Ghana
