Sergeant First Class Matthew B. Wheat is originally from Blackwell, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the U.S Army on 11 June 2008. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Bliss, TX as an Air Defense C4I Tactical Operations Center Enhanced Operator and Maintainer (14J). His assignments include: 3rd BDE USACC, Gateway BN, St. Louis, MO; 12th Missile Defense Battery (SMC), Al Udeid Airbase, Qatar; 1st Battalion, 362nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Camp Atterbury, IN; 11th Missile Defense Battery, Ramstein, Germany; Delta Battery 3rd Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Fort Bragg, NC; Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Battalion, Fort Bliss, TX. Sergeant First Class Wheat has deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Spartan Shield. 

Sergeant First Class Wheat has served in a variety of positions throughout his military career to include: Early Warning Operator, Senior Early Warning System Operator, Early Warning Team Leader, Assistant Operations Sergeant, Air Defense Artillery Operations NCO OC/T, Operations Sergeant, and Senior Military Science Instructor. 

Sergeant First Class Wheat’s military education includes: Combat Life Savers Course, Air Defense Artillery HIMAD C4I TOC Enhanced Course, Basic Combatives Course, Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Sensor Management Qualification Course, SHARP Foundation Course, Army Space Cadre Course Phase 1 & 2, Sensor Management Leader Development Course, Tactical Combatives Course, Multi-TDL Advance Joint Interoperability Course (MAJIC), First Army Observer/Controller Academy, Battle Staff NCO Course, Unit Prevention Leader, Senior Leaders Course (DH), Common Faculty Development Instructor Course, Master Educator Course, and the Equal Opportunity Leader’s Course. SFC Wheat holds an Associate’s of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science degree from American Military University. He is currently attending the University of Louisville in pursuit of a Master’s of Art in Higher Education Administration with a certificate in Organizational Leadership.
