Welcome to our new blog! We envision this as a space where we can talk about the various activities and accomplishments of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Washington University in St. Louis. We’ve named it “WU en/à/in/em STL” because of the ways in which the languages and cultures that we teach, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, are intricately and integrally woven into the fabric of St. Louis. The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures serves as a bridge between Washington University and these rich cultures, so essential to all that St. Louis is, has been, and will be.

We look to forward to sharing stories about our lives as researches and learners, as we adjust to a reality that –for now– has made some of the things that define who we are and we do (being the classroom, conducting our research in sites across the world, going to the library) rather challenging.  For the next few weeks/months we hope that this blog will be a place where we can learn more about what the members of the RLL are doing to make things work.
