The Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity (CRE2) invites proposals for transdisciplinary projects that enrich scholarly engagement related to the Center’s mission and core themes.

Our themes aim to focus scholarly attention on the myriad manifestations of race and/or ethnicity, locally, nationally, and globally, and to encourage research across the seven Washington University schools and many disciplines. The themes are not intended to exclude any scholarship, and we invite proposals for grants beyond these initial announced themes.

The Center supports five distinct grant programs:

Seed Grants encourage the development of research projects toward the pursuit of external funding.

Scholar Grants support projects that are terminal in design (i.e., not intended to yield external funding).

Small Grants support specific efforts to enhance scholarly engagement.
Labs/Startups/Ateliers (LSAs) are highly flexible, Affiliate-led and -defined spaces in which Affiliates can envision myriad collaborations, engagements, and experimentation.
Research Working Groups (RWGs) incubate and generate intellectual exchange, facilitate deeper and broader understandings of the research topic, and catalyze innovative ideas about the research area.
