During the last five years, Washington University School of Medicine has seen dramatic growth. The Operations & Facilities Management Department (OFMD) has been instrumental in planning and designing buildings and renovation projects to ensure the School’s mission can be fulfilled.

1234 S. Kingshighway

Completed November 2021, a renovation of the exterior windows, some masonry repair and construction. The interior shared spaces include updates to toilet rooms, a lactation room, a break room, and a large conference room.

4444 Forest Park MGI Renovation

Completed in the summer of 2020, the renovation for the McDonnell Genome Institute consolidated and repurposed former production labs, rebalanced labs, and provided proper office space support.

4480 Clayton

An addition and renovation to 4480 Clayton created a home for a large portion of the Washington University in St. Louis IT department in 2018.

Cori and Erlanger Renovation

A renovation of the Cori and Erlanger auditoriums were completed in July of 2020, turning the space into new team-based learning classrooms.

Couch Biomedical Research Building

This state-of-the-art research building provides over 138,000 square feet of research space and opened in 2015.

Couch 1st Floor Renovation

The renovation was completed in June of 2020, including the fit-out of the 24,957 square foot existing shell space into a wet lab research area to be used by future recruits and BJC investigators.

CWE Metro Station Renovation

Washington University School of Medicine and BJC HealthCare, in partnership with Bi-State Development, completed a major upgrade to the Central West End (CWE) MetroLink station in April of 2021.

Farrell Learning & Teaching Center 3rd-5th Floor Renovations

To meet the needs of curriculum renewal and new teaching pedagogy, OFMD and Medical Education completed renovations of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of the Farrell Learning & Teaching Center in October 2020.

McDonnell Sciences Research Building – 4th floor Cell Biology Renovation

In order to accommodate relocated labs, the renovation of a large portion of the 4th floor was undertaken. The project was completed in December 2020.

Completed in 2016, the Mid Campus Center serves as an administrative building for the Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish and St. Louis Children’s Hospitals.

Completed in 2022, the Mid Campus Center 8th Floor Faculty Office Fit out provides centrally located faculty offices for the department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Otolaryngology.

The improvements to Newstead Avenue were completed in April 2021 as part of a project for planned improvement on campus to enhance vehicular circulation and address ongoing campus growth.

The renovation and renewal of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floor of Renard were completed in September 2020, with occupancy in October 2020, in support of the Department of Psychiatry office and education needs.
