Jorge Guío

Visiting Graduate Student

I am a 3rd year PhD Student at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) as part of the CYANOFUR research group. My PhD thesis project is focused on unveiling new roles for Ferric Uptake Regulator (FUR) proteins and describing regulatory networks in the heterocyst-forming cyanobacterium Anabaena sp. PCC 7120. During my stay in the Pakrasi lab I will use CRISPR/Cpf1 to inactivate several transcriptional regulators that are part of the regulatory networks that I am studying. Apart from being a cyanobacteria lover, I enjoy doing volunteer work helping children at risk of social exclusion with their homework and studies.
