Presenting: For the Love Of Safety
The Chemistry Peer Safety Committee has chosen to participate in CSHEMA’s Lab Safety Awareness Week, an event that “recognizes the successes of laboratory health and safety programs and offers information and ideas on how to keep our faculty, staff, and students safe.”
This year, the PSC is bringing you “For the Love of Safety”, an event to encourage fun and safety education. See below to get a more detailed idea of what the event will offer!
Offerings: Raffles, snacks, swag, information, comfort dogs and more!
PSC Table: The PSC table will be where you can find all things event related. Our table will offer information on creating and maintaining a Laboratory Safety Team (LST). This is also where you will be able to enter your information for all of the raffles we have going! Additionally, the PSC is offering a $25 dollar gift card for the 25th unique visitor, a $50 gift card for the 50th unique visitor, and a $100 gift card for the 100th unique visitor!
EH&S Table: Here you will be able to interact with our awesome EH&S team and learn more about lab safety at WashU. They will have a game for you to play as well as some safety labels and swag for you to take home.
WashU Sustainability: WashU Sustainability will be present to teach you all about the amazing Green Labs Program, which is an initiative designed to help WashU labs be more environmentally friendly.
Mental Health Table: This table aims to bring awareness to mental health at WashU and how it can impact safety in the lab. You cannot conduct experiments safely if your head is not in the game! We have invited WashU’s comfort dogs Brookie and Bear to attend this event.
Obstacle Course: For us, safety is no obstacle! We will have a fun obstacle course activity for you to show your navigation skills. Participants who successfully complete the course will get a sticker to show of to their community.
Snacks: The PSC will be offering an assortment of snacks including Jimmy John’s sandwiches, cookies, chips, and beverages!
Raffle Prizes: The following items will be raffled off. All you need to do is attend to be entered!
