Dr. Patel’s mentorship style is hands-on, goal-oriented, and shaped by the needs and strengths of each trainee. He works closely with lab members to develop not only strong technical and analytical skills, but also confidence in navigating the broader scientific landscape. Trainees are given real responsibility in shaping their projects and are encouraged to think boldly and ask challenging questions. Dr. Patel aims to create an environment where people are constantly learning, growing, and moving toward their next career step with clarity and momentum.

Our lab combines a serious commitment to scientific excellence with a genuine enjoyment of the work we do. We’re energized by the challenge of solving tough problems and take pride in producing high-quality, thoughtful research. At the same time, the lab is a close-knit, supportive group—people look out for each other, collaborate generously, and enjoy spending time together both in and out of the lab. There’s a strong sense of purpose here, but also an appreciation for the friendships and shared experiences that make the work more meaningful.
