Instructor

Dr. Panikar completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees from University of Mumbai in India. He then earned his Ph.D. from CIATEJ-Guadalajara in Mexico and participated as a bilateral Ph.D. student at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology in Jena, Germany.

With over a decade of research experience in Molecular Imaging, Drug Delivery Systems, and Nanotechnology, Dr. Panikar specializes in leveraging Molecular Imaging techniques to advance cancer diagnosis and treatment. His expertise spans Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) for bioanalysis and the Phage Display Library for generating antibodies and peptides. During his postdoctoral training at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), he gained significant experience in Radiochemistry and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging, focusing on understanding cancer mechanisms and guiding drug development. Dr. Panikar’s research contributions have led to the Alavi-Mandell Award and recognition in the SNMMI “Ones to Watch 2023,” a prestigious accolade in the field of Molecular Imaging.

At Pachynski’s lab, Dr. Panikar is investigating the role of stress-induced ligands in response to Radioligand Therapy (RLT).
