Senior Scientist

Dr. Saeed is a Senior Scientist at Washington University School of Medicine (Pachynski’s lab), specializing in cancer immunology with a particular focus on immune cell trafficking and the role of cytokines in enhancing cellular therapy for cancer treatment. He earned his PhD in Immunology/Microbiology from The University of Melbourne, Australia and conducted postdoctoral research at University of Melbourne, University of Minnesota, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute where he expanded his expertise in microbial/tumor immunology. Currently, Dr. Saeed conducts research on projects exploring novel cytokine and immune checkpoint blockade therapies aimed at enhancing the efficacy of sipuleucel-T for improved treatment of prostate cancer. His recently published work on IL-15 and sipuleucel-T (Saeed et el. 2024, Cancer Immunology Research) has laid the foundation for a clinical trial being led by Dr. Pachynski to evaluate the safety and efficacy of adding the IL-15 superagonist to sipuleucel-T in prostate cancer patients. Dr. Saeed’s other research projects focus on examining the effect of chemerin (a chemoattractant) on immune cell biology/trafficking in prostate tumor microenvironment.
