If my team advances to the finals, do we have to present our case in person?
Yes. All finalists must present in person.
Is lodging provided for the two-night stay in St. Louis?
Yes, each team will receive two complimentary double-occupancy rooms for two nights lodging, February 13-14, 2025, at the Charles F. Knight Center on WashU Danforth Campus, and some meals.
Can my team include both graduate and undergraduate students?
No, teams must be comprised of either four undergraduate students or four graduate students; they cannot be mixed. All students at the time of registration must be enrolled in a program within the university they are representing.
Each team is composed of four presenters. Presenting teams should register as either graduate or undergraduate only, the teams cannot include both. To be eligible, teams must submit a completed registration.
Can my team present virtually if they advance to the finals?
No, all finalists must agree to compete in person in St. Louis on February 14, 2025. Teams must commit to an in-person presentation one month out of the competition; if they cannot commit to an in-person finale, they will forfeit their opportunity to advance to the finals and present. Finalists must commit to in-person no later than January 14, 2025, or forfeit.
If my team places, will I receive a cash payment during the awards?
No, winning teams must provide student affairs contact during the registration process. This contact will receive the check award, made out to the school, and then distributed by the student’s school to each student on the winning team.
If my team advances to the finals, can we continue to work on our case?
Yes, teams advancing to the finals can work on their presentation up until the finals.
Can only business students compete in the case competition?
No, Olin and the Olin Impact Case Competition organizers welcome students from all higher education programs. Although Olin is a business school, we recognize the significant opportunity students in multiple programs of study can create when collaborating.
Is an alternate team member required to form a team?
Although an alternate is not required, it is recommended- an alternate would only need to travel if one of the registered four team members advancing to the finals is unable to participate due to illness, emergency, or a scheduling conflict.
What day are the finals?
Ten teams, five undergraduate and five graduate teams, will advance to the finals and present in person at the Washington University Emerson Theatre in the Olin School of Business at 8:30 a.m. on February 14, 2025.
