The officers of two Olin graduate groups worked tirelessly to create a red wall of envelopes to share with classmates during the Monday, February 12th celebration. It was a beautiful gesture and warmly received by all in Olin. BRAVO! Let’s not forget the calligraphy too!

Why do the Chinese hand out red envelopes during Chinese New Year?
Generally, these are filled with money- and symbolize good wishes and luck for the new year ahead. The importance of the Hongbao isn’t the cash held inside; it’s the envelope itself. Red symbolizes good luck and prosperity in Chinese and East Asian cultures.
