Greetings, my fellow MSF classmates and Olin community! My name is Vicky Mei, a second-year student enrolled in WAM program. I am thrilled to share my stories with you.

My hometown is Shanghai. Growing there is a unique and dynamic experience, shaped by the city’s rich history, rapid development, and the fusion of tradition and modernity. During my teenager years, I have been exposed to a wide range of extracurricular activities, from sports and music to art and dance. Playing piano is one of my favourite, which I started practicing when I was two years old and has provided me with lots of comfort. I also have a deep love for outdoor sports and travelling. These activities not only offer me full-body workouts that can improve my physical health and endurance, but also allow me to explore new places, cultures, and environments.

I embarked on my academic journey firstly at Fudan University and received a bachelor’s degree in financial management. Studying in school of management involves a challenging curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, including financial analysis, investment strategies, risk management, and more. The rigorous academic environment also helps me to cultivate necessary quantitative skills and analytical thinking. As my interest in financial market growing, I tried several internships, including equity research, investment banking and asset management.

After graduation, I chose to continue my studies and pursue the MSFWAM program at Washu. Being respected globally, Olin business school has attracted a diverse group of students, enhancing the learning experience by bringing a variety of perspectives to the classroom. The university also provides me with access to research resources, financial databases, and possibly trading rooms or simulation labs to gain practical experience in finance. I am now working as a financial intern at McKelvey school of engineering. This semester, I am fortunate enough to be the lead of ECLL (English Communication, Learning and Lunch) with the support of advisor Lixing and Elizabeth, who have contributed a lot and always stay behind my back. Everyone of the group is highly involved and has a great time.

This is my second year at WashU and I am going to graduate in December. The time at St. Louis has been a transformative journey, one filled with challenges, growth, and unforgettable memories. I would like to tender my hearty thanks to all who have been a part of my fabulous experience. I have faith in the continued success of Olin and the incredible impact its students and alumni will make in the world. May we all go forth to make a positive difference in our communities, our fields of study, and beyond.
