Rebecca Dohrman

“Professor Dohrman knows her craft and knows students well – she can create an unnervingly accurate simulation for a high-stress situation and throws enough well-made curveballs to foil (satisfyingly) attempts to meta-game or get ahead of the situation.”William Atchinson, MBA 2023

  • Hometown: Belleville, IL
  • Current City: Warson Woods in a mid-county area
  • I love trying new restaurants around town. Some current favorites: are Southwest Diner, Guidos on the Hill, 1111 Mississippi, Pastaria, and Mission Taco. My husband John and I have a dinner club with our good friends and neighbors, and we are trying Sunday Best this weekend with them. We also recently tried Charcoal House in Rock Hill for the first time with the dinner club.
  • I have three kids and we love going to the cultural institutions in St. Louis – Science Center’s OmniMax and Planetarium is a recent favorite and I also love the History Museum.
  • I’ve taught or studied in Madrid, Spain; Paris, France; and Copenhagen, Denmark. I love teaching abroad and experiential learning.
  • I did my master’s in software development in 2019 and 2020 and am very excited to be teaching an elective in data visualization and storytelling this Fall.
  • One thing I appreciate about WashU and our campus is the interesting lectures and events happening all over campus. I keep an eye on university events and try to make sure to attend a few of them each semester. My favorite from last year was Sonia Sotomayor.
  • I do NYTimes Games each day – Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, and enjoy the competition with some friends and neighbors in group chats. I enjoy word games of all kinds.
  • I love the musical Hamilton and saw it on Broadway in 2022 in NYC with my daughter Ella (12 years old) which was a real joy.

“I enjoyed Professor Dohrman’s teaching style and course structure. Her weekly class schedules were very clear, including both the tasks to be completed during class and the tasks required after class. Moreover, it helped me improve my business communication skills and my ability to create PowerPoint presentations. This course allowed me to learn how to communicate with stakeholders efficiently.”
