Hello, fellow WashU community! My name is Vitaliy, a second-year MBA candidate. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share a bit about my journey and fun facts with all of you.

Before Olin, I spent a decade working in strategy consulting, international development, and public policy. In 2011, I earned a degree in public policy. Back then, I was elected as a Council Member in my hometown, which shaped my career path. It was an honor, but also a huge learning experience about the challenges of local governance. Seeing the changes in Ukraine firsthand during that time solidified my belief in the power of collective action and good governance. It made me realize how important it is to find innovative solutions to the issues facing democracies and human rights around the world.

Driven by a desire to deepen my understanding of these issues and to enhance my ability to contribute to their resolution, I decided to join the Olin Business School. I wanted to gain the skills and knowledge I need to tackle these complex challenges and lead initiatives that create real change in developing countries.

When I’m not working hard, I love to relax with photography and reading. Capturing moments through the lens gives me a chance to see beauty and stories in the everyday world. Similarly, reading books expands my understanding of the world and different cultures. A fun fact about me that often surprises people: I read a hundred books last year, from historical fiction to business guides!

Another fact that I’m particularly proud of is my involvement with Urban Space 500, an innovative social entrepreneurship restaurant in downtown Kyiv. As a co-founder and one of the 500 investors who believed in the vision of creating a communal space, I had the opportunity to serve as a board member, playing a pivotal role in its official opening. So, if you ever find yourself in Kyiv, I warmly invite you to visit Urban Space 500’s vibrant social venture.

As I embark on this next chapter of my journey, I am excited about the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals passionate about making a difference.
