Ferguson and Beyond: Artistic Responses to a Decade of Social Upheaval 2014-2024 – April 9th – 26th

“Ferguson and Beyond: Artistic Responses to a Decade of Social Upheaval 2014-2024” captures the power of individual and cultural histories brought forth by the killing of Michael Brown Jr. in Ferguson, MO, nearly 10 years ago and the ensuing response locally and from around the world in the decade following his death. The exhibition is comprised of painting, sculpture, video, and poetry with a focus on responses from artists of color from the St. Louis region and beyond. It opens with an artist reception for the public from 5:30—8 p.m. on March 22, 2024, and runs through April 26 in the Hunt Gallery on Webster’s main campus, 8342 Big Bend Blvd, St. Louis, 63119.

St. Louis Jewish Film Festival – April 7th -18th – Showtimes Vary

Travel the world through film! The J’s St. Louis Jewish Film Festival showcases national and international cinema that explores universal issues through traditional Jewish values, opposing viewpoints and new perspectives. Documentaries, dramas and short films are presented for two weeks, with introductions by filmmakers and experts on the issues the films bring forth. Jewish films for young adults are also presented to the public in an effort to expand discussion and audiences for this age cohort.

The St. Louis Earth Day Festival is a community tradition to learn about sustainable products and services offered by local businesses and organizations, meet local area non-profits that share Earth Day values, as well as showcasing local entertainment and local Green Dining Alliance restaurants.

World’s Fair Exhibit Opening Weekend – April 27th and 28th @ 10am – 5pm

Missouri History Museum in Forest Park – Entry is free however, tickets are limited (can be purchased in advance on the day of)

WorldFest 2024 – April 28th @ 12 – 5pm

Saint Louis Music Park – FREE

Celebrate diversity and discover the various cultures that make up the St. Louis region through food, music, and performances. This year there will be a total of 10 performers. Dance enthusiasts can look forward to captivating performances from groups representing China, India, Panama, and Ireland. Live music fans will be treated to a diversified lineup, including a Creole band, Japanese drumming, a Mexican guitar player, and a strings player showcasing traditional instruments from all around the world.

In addition to performances, WorldFest offers interactive activities and shopping opportunities for attendees. Kids are invited to learn about different cultures through passport stations and craft projects. Guests can indulge in several food vendors set to offer authentic cuisines or take home artwork and cultural items as souvenirs from our many vendors.

Greater St. Louis Book Fair – May 2nd – May 5th (Times Vary)

Greensfelder Recreation Complex in Queeny Park – FREE – $15

Promoting literacy and supporting nonprofits, the 74th annual Greater St. Louis Book Fair will take place from May 2 to 5.

The iconic event is the largest charity book fair in the Midwest, and this year, it will feature a more robust selection of books, comics, vinyl records, CDs and collectibles than ever!

General admission on Thursday is $15, and it’s free on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

2024 Cinco de Mayo Festival – May 4th @ 11am – 8pm

Cherokee Street – FREE

The festival features two grand stages, with live music & entertainment all day from a variety of genres. Plus, enjoy an action packed family fun zone, a mechanical bull, and Lucha Libre wrestling.

More than 100 vendors pack Cherokee Street, offering everything from traditional Mexican Street food and margaritas served in a real pineapple, to sweet treats, hats & t-shirts, face painting and much more.
