Meet Sam!
My name is Sam Polk, and I’m from Magnolia, Texas, about an hour from Houston. I received my undergraduate degree right down the road from Saint Louis University, where I studied entrepreneurship and sports business at the Chaifetz School of Business while playing baseball for the Billikens. During my time at SLU, I also represented the baseball team and athletic department as a SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) member. I specifically held a co-chair position on the mental health and wellness subcommittee. I loved my time in St. Louis so much that I extended my stay! I’m studying business analytics at Olin while competing on the varsity baseball team. Outside of school and baseball, you can catch me at a Cardinals or Blues game, spending time with teammates and friends, finding some live music around town, or getting some holes of golf in at Forest Park.
Some Fun Facts About Me:
- I’m an advanced certified scuba diver.
- I completed the first half of Marine Corps Officer Candidate School Summer 2020 as a pilot candidate.
- My sister is studying Physical Therapy and playing volleyball for Saint Louis University.
Meet Matt!
My name is Matt Lopes, and I’m from Jupiter, FL. I have been fortunate to be a part of the WashU community for the last six years. I spent the first four years completing my undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and computer science from the McKelvey School of Engineering. After finishing my undergraduate studies, I joined the Olin Business School for grad school and have spent the last two years completing my MBA with a consulting platform while also being a member of the Olin Strategy & Consulting Association. I have also had the privilege of competing on the varsity baseball team for my time here at WashU. When I’m not in the classroom or at the field, I enjoy spending my time with my friends and teammates, playing golf, or watching a Cardinals or Blues game.
Fun Facts:

- My brother played college baseball at Florida Tech and is now getting his MBA at the University of Alabama.
