Meet Julia Garza OMBA Candidate and GPO Staff!
I have been with Olin Business School and Washington University for four years in a variety of different roles. I started working at WashU in the Weston Career Center in 2019. There I took on a variety of different roles, primarily engaging with corporate partners and event programming. In March of 2023, I moved upstairs to the Graduate Programs Office as an Executive MBA recruiter. Previous to working at WashU, I was a Traveling Leadership Consultant for Alpha Sigma Alpha National Sorority. In this role, I had the opportunity to travel the US and provide leadership training to the women of Alpha Sigma Alpha. I enjoy building relationships with our talented students (prospective and current) and alumni and have always delighted in helping people.
I attended the University of Central Missouri and obtained my BS in Psychology. By my junior year of college, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in Higher Education, and I have enjoyed every opportunity I have had so far. I have had the privilege to watch many students graduate at WashU, and witnessing the success and growth of Olin’s students inspired me to further my education. I started my own MBA journey through WashU in the spring of 2022 and I am set to graduate with the inaugural Online MBA cohort in August 2024.
In my personal life, I enjoy kayaking and camping activities, wandering around Maplewood or surrounding areas and finding food or music-related events to attend, and spending quality time with my husband, Rony, and my cat, Julius Pepperwood (Pepper).
A few fun facts about me: I just got married in June this year and we had two beautiful receptions; one in St. Louis (my home) and one in Lebanon (my husband’s home country). Getting to celebrate our love with all of our friends and family across the globe was incredibly special. We then spent a month hiking, scuba diving, napping, and eating our way through Lebanon and Greece. In addition to my part-time MBA career, I am also (slowly) learning to speak Arabic, my husband’s native language.
