Wearable postpartum hemorrhage sensor received Honorable Mention NIH technology challenege

WashU team led by Dr. O’Brien receives Honorable Mention recognition in the NIH Technology Accelerator Challenge (NTAC) for Maternal Health. The team members include Francesca Bonetta-Misteli, Victor Davila-Roman, Antonina Frolova, Leonid Shmuylovich, and Peinan Zhao.

Recognition was received for the development of a low-cost wearable device that will allow for early detection of postpatum hemorrahage (PPH), which is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality worldwide. The device was developed for use in low- and high-resource settings to address maternal health needs globally.
