We invite you as a cse427s student to participate in our research study on sentiment analysis for CS education. The purpose of this research study is to investigate whether unit of study reviews can be used to improve the quality of teaching large CS classes. We invite you to participate because you are a student in cse427s – a large CS class.

Participating in this study is not related to any course grading mechanisms. It is entirely optional. If you would like to participate in this study, we ask you

  • to sign and return the study consent document to Bill Siever (Jolley 221)

The consent form is distributed and collected by Bill Siever (Jolley 221). He will keep your forms until after the final course grades for cse427s are published.

You may drop off the signed consent form or withdraw your already provided consent form at any time within the Fall 2019 semester. Just contact Bill Siever (bsiever at wustl dot edu).

We will only use your data (homework reviews, homework ratings, demographic information, and homework and allover course grades) for our study if you provide the signed consent form. The data we will use for the research study will be de-identified (we will replace your name, student-ID, and wustlkey with a random identifier; we will not produce nor keep a mapping of names/IDs/wustl keys to identifiers).
