Paul Talman, Objekt (Object) or Kugelbild (Ball image), 1964

In Objekt twenty-five half-black, half-white Ping-Pong balls are set in a grid between two Plexiglas panels , which are colored white on one side and black on the reverse. The balls are secured in such a way that a viewer could rotate them in place to produce a number of variations. The viewer could also choose which side of the object to display, giving it a black or a white background. This interactive work offers the participant the possibility of creating new relations and potentially new insights on the cognitive-visual level.
